INTRODUCTION
Lugarawa Youth Foundation (LYF) is a registered non-governmental organization established on 12 August 2021 with the mission of empowering youth and communities through education, health, agriculture, entrepreneurship, sports, environmental protection, and community development.
As we celebrate five years of impact (2021–2026), we reflect on a journey marked by commitment, innovation, partnerships, and community-centered development initiatives that have improved the lives of many people in Ruvuma and Njombe Regions of Tanzania.
OUR FIVE-YEAR MILESTONE ACHIEVEMENTS
1. ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND GOVERNANCE
Official registration as Lugarawa Youth Foundation (LYF) under registration number 00NGO/R/2147.
Establishment of leadership and governance structures.
Development of operational procedures, accountability systems, and community participation mechanisms.
Successful launch of the Lugarawa Institution in 2022, marking an important step in expanding our educational and community development vision.
2. STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS AND INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION
During the past five years, LYF has established valuable partnerships and cooperation with national and international organizations:
A. Anike Foundation
Date: 12 December 2024
Area of Collaboration: Educational opportunities in African communities.
This partnership focuses on expanding access to education, supporting disadvantaged learners, and promoting educational development initiatives for children and youth.
B. FasterCapital – Equity Pilot Agreement
Agreement Date: 21 August 2025
Location: ASPIN Commercial Tower, Sheikh Zayed Office 203, Business Bay, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
This agreement opened opportunities for business incubation, entrepreneurship support, innovation development, and investment collaboration for youth-led projects.
C. International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG), Korea
Collaboration with International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG), Korea strengthened our commitment to peacebuilding, women’s empowerment, leadership, and international solidarity for sustainable community development.
D. Fiscal Sponsorship Grant Agreement
Date: 14 May 2024
This agreement enhanced LYF’s capacity to access grant opportunities, strengthen project implementation, and improve financial accountability and sustainability.
3. RECOGNITION, AWARDS AND CERTIFICATIONS
LYF has received important recognition for its contribution to community development, environmental sustainability, and economic empowerment:
Awards and Certificates
Award Certificate in Global Energy for Clean Water Supply.
Certificate of Registration of Dealers in Apiary Products or Bee Products – 04 July 2024.
Recognition Certificate in Women’s Economic Empowerment awarded by Songea District Council in 2024 for outstanding contribution to women’s economic development initiatives.
These recognitions demonstrate the organization’s growing credibility and impact in sustainable development and livelihood improvement.
4. COMMUNITY ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT PROJECTS
Carpentry Workshop – Peramiho Ward
LYF established a carpentry workshop in Peramiho Ward to provide vocational skills, employment opportunities, and practical training for young people interested in woodworking and furniture production.
Mechanics Workshop – Peramiho Ward
A mechanics workshop was established to equip youth with technical and mechanical skills, promote self-employment, and support local economic activities.
Mushroom Production Project – Peramiho (2025)
In 2025, LYF launched a mushroom production project in Peramiho aimed at improving household nutrition, generating income for youth and women groups, and promoting sustainable agribusiness practices.
5. WOMEN AND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT INITIATIVES
Electricity Support for Tailoring Group
LYF supplied electricity connection support (PAS YA UMEME) to a local tailoring group, enabling women and youth to improve productivity and expand their small businesses.
Distribution of Sewing Machines – Lugarawa Village
The organization distributed 1 sewing machines to community members in Lugarawa Village to promote vocational skills, self-employment, and women’s economic independence.
Support for School Children
LYF provided school uniforms to primary school children in:
Peramiho – Ruvuma Region
Lugarawa – Njombe Region
This initiative helped reduce barriers to education for vulnerable children and encouraged school attendance and participation.
6. EDUCATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS
Alternative Charcoal Production Training
LYF conducted community education and training on alternative charcoal production using environmentally friendly methods. The training aimed to:
Reduce deforestation,
Promote renewable and sustainable energy alternatives,
Create income-generating opportunities through eco-friendly briquette production,
Increase environmental conservation awareness among youth and community groups.
7. AGRICULTURE AND SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOODS
The organization has continued to promote integrated agriculture, beekeeping, environmental conservation, and sustainable income-generating activities through community-based projects and training programs.
8. HEALTH, SPORTS AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
Over the five-year period, LYF has:
Participated in community health awareness campaigns,
Promoted maternal and child health education,
Supported youth participation in football and netball activities,
Encouraged discipline, teamwork, leadership, and healthy lifestyles among young people,
Strengthened social cohesion through volunteerism and community service initiatives.

Through the dedication of members, volunteers, partners, and community stakeholders, LYF has achieved:
Empowerment of youth, women, and vulnerable community groups through vocational skills and entrepreneurship support.
Establishment of carpentry, mechanics, mushroom production, and tailoring support initiatives.
Expansion of educational support programs for children in Ruvuma and Njombe regions.
Promotion of clean energy, environmental conservation, and sustainable livelihoods.
Strengthening of international partnerships and development cooperation.
Increased recognition of LYF as a credible grassroots organization working for community transformation.

Expand the Lihangano Integrated Agriculture Farming Project.
Establish training centers for health, agriculture, entrepreneurship, and vocational skills.
Strengthen women and youth economic empowerment programs.
Promote renewable energy and clean water initiatives.
Develop sustainable financing mechanisms for long-term organizational growth.
Increase regional and international partnerships for greater community impact.
CONCLUSION
From 12 August 2021 to 12 August 2026, Lugarawa Youth Foundation has completed five remarkable years of service, learning, growth, and community transformation.
What began as a vision to empower young people has evolved into a growing movement for education, economic empowerment, environmental sustainability, health promotion, peacebuilding, and social development.
As we celebrate this important milestone, we reaffirm our commitment to continue serving communities with integrity, compassion, innovation, and partnership.
